A request to all of my mom-friends:
Help me with some ideas of what fun finger-foods I should have Ben try!
Ben seems to much prefer to feed himself - I have spent the past 2 months trying to jam purees into his mouth on a spoon (which he doesn't love) - but give him a cracker or fruit puff he can work on himself, and he seems to kind of enjoy food!
Small pieces of cheddar cheese, kiwi, small pasta pieces with some pesto on it, umm...diced chicken, small banana slices, whole wheat pancakes (add some sweet potatoes for nutrients), boiled green beans (add some dried dill for flavor). I have more, just can't think of them right now. He will get super messy, but it's fun to watch!
ReplyDeleteHmm...Maeve loves pizza. Make them with pitas, whole wheat sandwich or bagel thins and easy to incorporate veggies (mushrooms, zucchini, broccoli as toppings - cook the broccoli first so it's soft enough). She also really loved squash, yams and sweet potatoes when she was Ben's age. Very quick and easy to roast them in the oven and serve once cool...you don't even have to really cut them because they'll be so soft. She loves grapes (cut in half or even quartered) and watermelon. We also did not wait for her to turn one before we introduced eggs, we gave them to her around 8-9 months and she loves them.
