Shauna hosted her 4th Annual Mother's Day Brunch last weekend and it was the best yet, in my opinion! Every year, on the Sunday before Mother's Day, Shauna has her mom-friends over for an afternoon of food, champagne and lounging. It was another great year - the food was incredible (I seriously wish I had had seconds), and the weather was gorgeous.
Meanwhile, back at home, the boys started putting together the climbing dome we recently purchased for Ben! Everything was going great...
...until it wasn't ;) I think we all underestimated this project, which should have been done by a handful of strong people vs. 1 strong person and a kid (with help later on by me, a semi-strong person with a back injury that shouldn't lift heavy/awkward things)!
We then discovered that 2 of the pieces we needed for the top of the dome had been assembled into the base of the dome. Then a screw (that was tightened and needed to be loosened so we could add another bar) was stripped and impossible to remove. Then due to the dome being half put together, but not fully, some of the bars were bending in the wrong direction. It was a serious of events that led us to request a refund from Amazon, box it up and return it. LOL. Lesson learned. But hey - at least we spent several hours of quality time working together, right? ;)
My heart basically explodes every time Ben comes home with something new in his journal like this:
Ben's school has an optional Science Fair that everyone had the opportunity to join. Ben was SO pumped to sign up, and really wanted to do something USA related - because he still has a passion for the states and maps in general!
We tried to make his state them somewhat related to science, and mapped out some of the USA's mountains and water.
Greg's birthday was May 1st, and to honor him, Ben and I ordered his favorite ice-cream cake and had Dairy Queen decorate it. Ben thought this was the funniest thing ever and actually kept it a secret from Greg until he saw it. ;) Little boy humor has taken over our household.
My mom picked up a new game for her and Ben to play a couple weeks ago when Greg and I went out - Quirkle! It's super fun and Ben is so good at it!
And lastly - we learned at Ben's last dentist appointment that in addition to another cavity, he also has a Mesioden - which is an extra tooth, growing in upside down (aka up into the roof of his mouth) that will require oral surgery to remove! Parenting is full of fun surprises!
