2 Week Appointment

We took Ben in for his 2 week appointment on Monday, and we were happy to learn that he is healthy and thriving :) It was nice to see our doctor (Ben will have the same doctor as I do - the one who delivered him) and ask her the various questions we have had over the past couple weeks.

Ben has gained a FULL POUND since birth. This might be normal, but I was totally surprised and excited to hear that! I can tell that he is starting to fill out his newborn outfits, and just today I noticed that he can't straighten his legs completely in a few of them...crazy that he was totally swimming in them just a week ago. Since Ben is eating so well and gaining weight appropriately, we no longer have to feed him on a specific schedule as we did before, which is great. Just last night he slept for 5 straight hours before waking up to eat! DREAM BABY ;) During the days, I have noticed his hunger increasing. Typically he eats every 3 hours or so, but at times he is eating every 1-2 hours.

As far as alertness goes, Ben has at least 2 periods of time a day where he is VERY alert and awake. He will track things with his eyes and will be startled at sudden loud noises. He can definitely recognize our voices (and I think smells).
