Hawaii Day 2: Mother's Day

Due to the difference in time, we all were up around 4:30 am.  Since the restaurant at the hotel didn't open until 6:30 (and we had breakfast included in our package, so going elsewhere wasn't an option), we decided to start our day with a walk around the hotel grounds....in the dark.

But first, cookies before breakfast.  #vacationparenting

Since the cottages were were staying in were close to the Stables, we thought we would walk over that way to see if the horses were up yet.  They weren't.

The coffee stand in the hotel lobby opened at 6 am, so we went to get some coffee - and check out the gym, shops, etc while we were there.

The view from the lobby/coffee shop:

After breakfast, I hit the gym.  Later in the morning, the weather still had not improved much from the night before.  It was still very cloudy and grey and even rainy at times. :(  (I was so worried at this point that the weather was going to be like this all week)!

We had Facetimed with Rachel and Peter that morning (they were over on Maui!) and she shared a website with us that showed you what the weather was like on different parts of the island.  We had heard that weather was typically nice SOMEWHERE on the island, so we looked up Aulani (the Disney resort on Oahu) and it looked sunny there.  Since we had wanted to check it out at some point (for future vacation reference), we decided it would be a good day to head over there.

And it was NICE:

It was really nice and packed with kids and the pool was completely amazing.  Unfortunately, Disney does not sell day passes and the entire time we were there walking around, Ben was BEGGING to get in the pool.  :/  We quickly bought Ben an ice-cream to distract him and left.

We went to Target and picked up snacks for Ben and beer for us and headed back towards the North Shore.

We stopped by the food truck park down the street from our hotel and got some fish tacos:

Back at the hotel, the boys hit the pool slide while I enjoyed my first (of many) bacon basil Bloody Mary's poolside with my book.

Snuggling with my favorite boy who makes me so happy to be his mom :)

That evening we enjoyed cocktails and dinner poolside and watched the luau put on by the hotel at the pool.  A great day.

All week long, I kept trying to figure out how many times the cottage staff visited our room each day.  They would always come by sometime in the late morning to clean the room.  Then again in the afternoon to bring our daily treat (always something sweet - cookies, a chocolate bar, dried pineapple, etc) and then once more in the evening to turn down our bed, bring fresh towels and ice, etc.  It was fantastic.
